Construction on the second of three phases of the mountain bike trails began a couple weeks ago at Chestnut Mountain Resort, less than seven days since a foot of snow covered the landscape. A crew from Pathfinder Trail Building LLC was back at work Tuesday, March 28 for the second phase. According to one of the Pathfinder crew members, depending on the weather, they should be on site for the next month. Here, the Pathfinder crews are currently constructing a trail alongside and above Chestnut’s Old Main ski run on the left-hand side of the access road to the North Point lookout area.

Stockton Wa-Tan-Ye donates to Stockton FFA
A total of 171 children entered an Easter Coloring Contest sponsored by the Country Inn and Suites, DeSoto House Hotel and Kandy Kitchen this Easter season. The three age groups for the contest were: five and under; six-eight; and nine-10. The winners are as follows: in the five and under age group Landen Laskowski took first place, Myah Lange took second place and Lila Sauerberg placed third. In the six, seven and eight age group, Stephanie Perez Mayen received first place, Austin Nack took second place and Mackenzie Delacruz placed third. In the nine and 10 age category Michael Schilling took first place, Aubrey Peterson placed second and Megan Gansen took third place. The first-place prize was a pool party for 10 people at Country Inn and Suites. The second-place prize was breakfast or lunch for four at the DeSoto House Hotel. The third-place prize was an Easter basket especially made for the winner by the Kandy Kitchen.
