Tylor's wish came true. He met hero Brett Favre
Tylor Richardson gave Brett Favre several football trading cards to sign. Favre made jokes about not knowing this guy in the Packer jersey. “He cracked jokes the whole time,” Jen said. “He was really as nice as he seems.”

Fighting a rare disease: Niemann-Pick type C
Tylor Richardson has Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC), a rare disorder that's slowly taking his life. Patients with Niemann-Pick types A and B are usually diagnosed as infants. They die at a young age. A patient with type C, like Tylor, could live to be 15 or 16.

There is no cure, but there is medication that could slow the disease's progression. It's still experimental. The potential cost per year for the drug: $100,000.

"There's only 500 reported cases in the world," Jen said in an earlier interview. NPC patients cannot metabolize cholesterol and other lipids properly. Consequently, excessive amounts of cholesterol accumulate in Tylor's liver and spleen, and excessive amounts of other lipids accumulate in Tylor's brain. "There's no cure for it," Jen said.

Tylor's in the moderate stage of the disease. He has problems with upward and downward eye movement. He can be clumsy and has trouble walking. He has problems swallowing. He has seizures.

"We have one of the best doctors in the world for diagnosing this disease," said Jen.

The phone rang and someone on the other end was telling Jen White-Richardson that the Make a Wish Foundation had made arrangements for her son to meet Brett Favre. "It was all surreal," Richardson said about the call that came in just before Christmas Day.

Thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation, Tylor boarded a plane on Christmas Day, headed for New York with his dad Ryan Richardson, his mom Jennifer and her friend Bryan "Sy" Simon. They arrived late at the hotel near midnight so the next day, Tylor was tired but ready to see the sights of New York and to meet Brett Favre and the New York Jets at the practice field.

PNI Govt. Spending

"The whole team swarmed around Tylor," Jen said. "He kept scanning the team to find Brett," who was waiting for his turn to meet Tylor at the practice field, "then Tylor spotted him and his eyes widened and so did his smile."

The Jet's helmet didn't have a spot on it before the meeting, but after the coaches and team retreated, every piece of white was covered with a signature. Tylor expected to get one or two autographs-he got the whole team to sign the helmet.

Two hours before the game against the Miami Dolphins, Tylor arrived at the field. The group was shown to their special VIP seats on the 5-yard line, on the first row. They were served "real food" not just typical football stadium food. Things like chicken and vegetables were prepared for them by the stadium staff. And Tylor was seated right in front of the cheerleaders-The Flight Crew.

The group toured Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas Tree, Times Square, Ground Zero and the tribute center and the Statue of Liberty. It was too foggy to venture to Ellis Island but the group saw most of the sights that they had hoped to see.

Luckily at the statue, Jen asked a guard if she was in the right line with the Make a Wish tickets and they had a tour lined up for them. "We would have waited in line for hours probably," Jen said. "I can't believe everything Make A Wish did for us."
