UPDATE:
EAST DUBUQUE–The railroad company, Canadian National, has footage from the bridge of the man hitting the water below. “We believe it’s accidental at this time,” said East Dubuque Fire Chief Joe Heim, who also said the footage looks like “someone had fallen in.”
The bridge operator, who had lost contact with the railroad company at 3:40 a.m., and has now been missing for nearly 12 hours.
“We’ve moved from a rescue attempt to a recovery operation,” said Heim.
