Special Olympics coming to Jo Daviess County February 4-6

The Illinois Special Olympics is holding its Winter Games this next week at Chestnut Mountain Resort, Feb. 4-6.

A highlight of the Winter Games is the opening ceremony and the parade of athletes that will be in downtown Galena beginning at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6.

To kick off the opening ceremony, after the parade, law enforcement torchrRun officers will hand off the torch to athletes who will carry it along its path and light the cauldron holding the Flame of Hope. A fireworks display will take place at the end of the opening ceremony.
