The Benton School District received a donation from the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation and the Olive Branch Lodge in New Diggings to be used towards the purchase of an AED and box. The Wisconsin Masonic Foundation has placed almost 500 AEDs in Wisconsin schools and have saved nearly 40 lives with the machines they have funded. The new AED is the second in the school and is located near the high school gym. The shed located north of the Galena Middle School was torn down on April 19 as the first step toward the expansion of the building. The shed, which once housed drivers education classes in the summer, was holding middle school football equipment and drama club materials in recent years.
