John Bourke

HANOVER–On Dec. 26, 2022, John V. Bourke arrived in heaven. He was 85.

John was an honored veteran, serving in the Navy, and a proud member of the Hanover VFW.

He cherished his time hunting and fishing with many, especially with George and Crystal Panfil, and spending time with his family, camping and cruising.

He worked for the Centel phone company for over 30 years.

John was a beloved father to Brian (Jane) Bourke, Woodstock; Scott (Beth) Bourke and Victor Bourke, Bartlett; brother to Monica (Milton(d)) McDaniel, Mulvane, Kan.; Mary (Vincent (d)) Brown, Decatur, Ga.; Joan (Ted) Foss, Antioch; Patricia (Ken) Lindenau, Linfield, Pa.; and Eileen Bourke, India; best friend to George (Crystal) Panfil, Hanover; grandfather to Danae (Brian) O’Connor, Woodstock; Leanna (Tony) Bahwell, Crystal Lake; great-grandfather to Liam and Declan O’Connor, and Regan, Griffin, and Sawyer Bahwell; stepfather/uncle/great-uncle to many; and a loved man to countless friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Harriet Bourke; brother, Edward (Nancy) Bourke; and spouses, Joan Bourke and Joanne Bourke.

A celebration of life and military service to honor him will take place on April 15, 2023, at the Hanover VFW. Time TBD.
