It was a chilly Adopt-A-Highway day for the four Galena Lions Club members–from left, Lisa Schoenrock, Paul Junge, Bob Singleton, and Lenny Hosey–who cleaned up garbage from the designated stretch of Stagecoach Trail on October 19. Two large bags of debris were collected. The Galena Lions Club not only assists with sight and hearing needs and provides donations to community organizations but also takes measures towards protecting our natural environment. All entities in this program greatly appreciate the public’s cooperation in slowing down when workers are seen, as well as keeping garbage off the roadways. Eagle Ridge donates to Frank Thomas Foundation
The Kiwanis Club of Galena recently installed officers starting Oct. 1. They are, from left, Austin Gerlich, president; and right, Ty Cocagne, treasurer. Performing the installation was Yvonne Mallory, center, lieutenant governor of the Kiwanis district. Libby Miller, secretary, and Stacy Bouldoukian, vice president, will be installed at a later date. The Kiwanis are involved in the Run for the Parks in April, the Fourth of July music, food and fireworks, and a booth at the Country Fair. They are currently working on helping upgrade the parks in Galena, as the emphasis of Kiwanis is helping the women and children of the world. The Kiwanis Club of Galena meets every Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Emmy Lou’s and new members are welcome.
