Work has been done to the Lake Galena Marina at the Galena Territory including demolition of the marina building on Sept. 18. Here, Louie’s Trenching excavates the silt pond that will be filled with material hydraulically dredged from the present marina site. The pond is nearly a 1/4 mile long and over 18 ft. deep. The dredging is being done to increase the number of docking slips and align the slips in a more convenient position.

DC RISE Real Estate completed their most recent “Community Project.” The team gifted 101 local students brand-new backpacks for the 2023-24 school year. These students attend school in Fulton, Galena, Savanna, Scales Mound, Warren, Blanchardville, Juda, Monroe, Platteville and South Wayne. DC RISE gifts backpacks to area students
The Stockton Heritage Museum will host Illinois Historian John Lynn, as he takes his audience on a road trip tour of Illinois towns. The presentation, “Main Street, Illinois” will take place on Thursday, October 19 at the Stockton at the Stockton Heritage Museum at 2 p.m. The product of a 30-year continuing project to capture the many ways Illinois towns offer roots, a hometown, and a Little America for all. The tour will highlight the charms, traditions, and personalities of Illinois towns led by the only person who has visited and photographed all 2,400 of them. Lynn takes audiences to the far-flung corners of the state to the small towns that aren’t on the map. The event is free and open to all audiences. Stockton Heritage Museum hosts Illinois Historian
Ed Strenski, left, and Dennis Kueter, right, pose with their wines which won awards at the Illinois State Fair this year. Strenski won double gold (every judge rated the wine gold) in the amateur competition for his St. Pepin 1 and Galena Gold wines. His Fever River and Dechaunac also won awards. Kueter won gold for his Crimson Pearl wine. He also won awards for Red Blend and Frontenac Blanc. Another member of the NIWG, Lynn Kaufman, was recognized for her Concord wine.
